What Cloakli does — and doesn't do

Cloakli draws a visual mask on top of web pages. To use it well, please understand the following.

  • Cloakli does not delete or modify the page's underlying data. It visually covers what is displayed on screen.
  • If a website changes its structure, some saved masks may stop re-applying.
  • Always verify your masks yourself before you start sharing or recording your screen.
  • It is not a security tool that blocks browser dev tools, other extensions, or access to a site's internal data.
  • It does not replace a password manager or a data loss prevention (DLP) system.

Frequently asked questions

Does Cloakli send my page content to a server?

No. Page text, email content, titles, images, and screenshots are never sent to our servers. Only if you activate a Pro license, the information needed to verify it (a random installation ID, the activation request, a session token, and the extension version) is sent to our license server.

Are masks really invisible to other people?

Screen sharing and recording capture exactly what is drawn on your screen. Cloakli's masks are drawn on the page, so they appear masked in shared screens too. It is still your responsibility to verify the masks before you start sharing.

Can I still click links while they're masked?

Yes. Masked thumbnails and links still navigate normally when clicked. The mask covers things visually while clicks pass through to the original element.

Do masks survive a page refresh?

Yes. Saved masks are stored in your browser and re-apply automatically after a refresh or when you revisit the site.

Which sites does it work on?

Regular http/https websites. It is designed for dynamic sites (YouTube, Gmail, and similar), but compatibility with every site structure is not guaranteed.

Does it work on Chrome's internal pages?

No. Chrome policy prevents extensions from running on chrome:// pages, the Chrome Web Store, and the new tab page.

What's the difference between Free and Pro?

Free saves up to 3 masks on 1 site, using single-element scope. Pro removes the site and mask limits and adds page-type and site-wide scopes for matching elements.

How many devices can one license activate?

One license key can be active on up to 3 devices. You can free up a slot anytime with "Deactivate on this device" in the popup.

What happens if I cancel my subscription?

Pro stays active until the end of the paid period, then your plan returns to Free. See the refund and subscription policy for details.

Are my existing masks deleted when Pro ends?

No. Saved masks are never deleted and keep applying. Only creating new masks beyond the Free limits is restricted.
